Why are microgreens so good for me?
While the name suggests garnish, the irony of it is that these tiny greens actually have massive benefits to your diet and health. By simply improving your diet you can improve your lifestyle.
Microgreens are harvested up to 14 days after germination meaning they are packed with the nutrients that would otherwise be used to feed the plant. They often contain higher vitamin, mineral and antioxidant levels than the same quantity of mature greens and are not exposed to harmful chemicals, pesticides or harsh climates (1). Our microgreens are grown in a climate controlled environment with nothing but water. We source organic seed and material so you can take comfort in the purity of your food.
While the nutrient content varies slightly between each micro, the majority are high in zinc, potassium, magnesium, iron and copper. (2,3)
Micros are a great source for antioxidants (4). In fact, research comparing microgreens to mature greens have concluded in their reports that Microgreens nutrient levels can be up to nine times higher (5). Research also shows that they contain a wider variety of polyphenols and other antioxidants than their mature counterparts (6).
One study where the results were compared with the USDA National Nutrient Database for MATURE leaves. Some levels measured in microgreens were up to 40 times higher than those recorded for more mature leaves (7).
Soooooooooo, Eat your microgreens with every meal.
